The Richmond Carolina Fire District is currently seeking an Apparatus and Safety Equipment Coordinator the hours and job descriptions are as follows:

Job Description: Apparatus and Safety Equipment Coordinator

  • Hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm Monday thru Friday 40-hour work week
  • A general knowledge of the fire district and its boundaries is required.
  • General maintenance and cleaning of all buildings, grounds, and apparatus will be expected. Duties include but are not limited to mowing all stations lawns and the clearing of snow and ice in the winter.
  • Special projects may be assigned as needed or as an individual's skill set allows.
  • Truck checks will be performed on a schedule to be determined.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of activities.
  • Reporting of incidents and other written reports required.
  • Overtime and/or compensatory time will be paid at 1-1/2 times the normal rate for hours past 40 hours.
  • The position requires that personal appearance be maintained in the form of hair being kept neat, clean shaven or facial hair kept trimmed and cut, no 1- or 2-day growth.
  • A clean uniform that is department approved must be worn and the Chief will determine which uniform is to be worn at season change.

Special requirements:

  • Be on Call 24/7 when needed
  • Basic computer skills to maintain records and logs of worked performed
  • Must have a valid driver's license and to be able to drive all District vehicles or have experience operating fire apparatus.
  • Willing to obtain a RI EMT basic certification
  • Desired to have or be willing to obtain a RI Assistant Deputy State Fire Marhsall Certification
  • Must pass a police background check
  • The duties will include lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, bending, climbing, and exposure to environments in adverse weather conditions.
